Easter egg hunt in the Tokai forest

The Orphan Care Foundation together with another Non Profit organisation called SOUL, partnered to arrange an Easter egg hunt for 60 of the vulnerable and orphaned children from the Westlake informal settlement on the 23rd March 2015.

Together with some awesome ladies from SOUL and the Westlake Community and volunteers, children between the ages of 4-6 were brought to the Tokai forest in Taxis and treated to a hot meal and a fun Easter egg hunt.

A fun day out in the Tokai Forest

Upon arrival, each child was given a kiddies meal and juice kindly donated by Nando’s which was an absolute treat! Most of the children from the Westlake informal settlement will never have that opportunity and the excitement of eating a delicious hot meal almost overshadowed the Easter egg hunt!

Fun times with children from Westlake

So many happy faces

Two volunteers from the Tokai Neighbourhood Crime Watch joined in the festivities and helped the excited children hunt for their hidden treats!

Having fun on the swings

After lunch, the children sang beautiful songs and gave praise for their food and then the festivities of the Easter egg hunt began.

Lots of smiles and laughter

Springfield Girls Convent generously gifted the eggs for the Easter egg hunt and for the children attending our Friday kids club. The Easter eggs were all numbered and the children had to hunt for Easter eggs with their corresponding number.

Lots of fun and laughter was had by all.
