Child Care

Protecting wellbeing and responding to immediate needs

The Child Care pillar focuses on the wellbeing, protection and practical support of children and those responsible for their care.

Who this can support

  • Orphans and children who have lost one or both parents.
  • Vulnerable children whose circumstances place their wellbeing, development, education or future opportunities at risk.
  • Vulnerable caregivers, including single or ill parents, grandparents, foster parents and safe-house caregivers where caregiver support contributes directly to a child’s wellbeing.

Areas of support

  • Essential goods, food and basic resources.
  • Practical assistance to vulnerable households.
  • Support to caregivers where it contributes directly to children’s wellbeing.
  • Connecting families and caregivers with appropriate services and resources.

Education

Creating opportunities to learn, develop and participate

OCF understands education as extending beyond formal academic achievement. It includes opportunities to develop intellectually, creatively, socially and emotionally while reducing practical barriers to participation.

Creative and educational enrichment

  • Therapeutic and creative arts, drama and movement.
  • Environmental awareness projects and opportunities for creative exploration.
  • Participation in art and other competitions, with recognition of achievement.
